Adam Howe was born in Sheffield and raised in London.

He graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Fashion Textiles

Adam is an established stylist, costume designer, fashion editor and consultant, always hungry for new looks and ideas, he absorbs influences and inspiration from his immediate surroundings and from detailed research.

From assisting the legendary Judy Blame in the 1980s Adam rose quickly to contributing fashion editor at i-D, The Face and Arena Homme Plus, where his influential street styling, casting and location work brought realism and personal nuance to the fore. 

At the core of his work is a fascination with textiles, their heritage and contemporary interpretation. In Autumn 2011 Adam established menswear label ‘Work Not Work’, with Simon Taylor ( Tomato ) with a flagship store opening Spring 2013 in Maranouchi, Tokyo. 

Adam’s developing interest in moving image and pinpoint attention to detail gained him the position of stylist in cult Japanese director Takashi Miike’s movie ‘Hyo Ryugai’ ( The Hazard City ) and subsequently secured him a role as chief costume designer on Elaine Constantine’s first feature film, BAFTA nominated ‘Northern Soul’, released 2014 to critical acclaim. Established as a costume designer on later film releases 'Lies We Tell',  directed by Mitu Misra, starring Gabriel Byrne and Harvey Keitel. ‘Monsoon’ directed by Hong Khao, starring Henry Golding, ‘Break’ directed by Nick Moss, starring John Hurt.

Television dramas include ‘The Virtues’ directed by Shane Meadows, ‘Marriage’ directed by Stefan Golazewski and ‘Gangs of London’ season 2.

Adam was recently nominated for a BAFTA as costume designer for the BBC / Netflix drama ‘The Serpent’

Adam has contributed to magazines including i-D, Arena Homme Plus, GQ Style, 032C, L’Uomo Vogue, Vogue Italia and The Face working with photographers including David Sims, Glen Luchford, Schoerner, Takay, David Hughes, Paul Wetherell, Robert Wyatt, Nobuyoshi Araki, Takashi Homma, Mario Testino, Donald Milne, Gavin Watson and Elaine Constantine. 

Music clients, include Public Image Ltd, Moloko, Robbie Williams, Tricky, The Beastie Boys and Kylie Minogue.

Advertising clients include Levis, Lacoste, Comme des Garçons, Louis Vuitton, Hunter, Speedo, Nike and Adidas.
